Your teacher: Helen Davenport-Peace


I’m thrilled to introduce you to Helen. A yoga teacher with over 20 years experience with so much knowledge and wisdom on fertility from her own story and listening to the many she has supported with her beautiful work: Helen Davenport-Peace

Helen and I are completely aligned in how we feel about ‘fertility wellness’ and are passionate about providing fertility yoga which makes no promises or bold claims about what we can achieve...other than to say we DO believe that by gifting ourselves this sacred, glorious time just for YOU on the mat, we offer up an opportunity to deepen our self-awareness, sense of stability and as a result, find new powerful ways to feel better, calmer and talk more gently to ourselves.

Having both been through challenging fertility experiences we really do understand what this is like.

Life Raft Yoga

So often when we’re going through a difficult path to bringing home a baby we get confusing messages about what movement is appropriate, so we stop altogether.

We can end up hating our bodies for letting us down or we feel like they are ‘broken’. This kind of self talk makes you feel totally bloody rubbish and that’s what we want to help you change with these yoga sessions.

Yoga helps us to connect with our centre, improving focus, presence and releasing physical tension.

Life Raft Yoga with Helen will aim to encourage ease and a feeling of safety in the body, which for many of us, feels very difficult.

What makes Life Raft yoga even more special?

Apart from the incomparable energy of total safety and nurture these sessions will provide, we will take it a little further so you get the very most from your hour.

Every month we focus on a theme, ranging from rediscovering self confidence, setting boundaries and reconnecting to joy, to explore the ways we can live our lives more fully even throughout the challenges we're facing.

You’ll also feel an invaluable sense of connection with other people going through the same thing.

Classes:

We will be running two drop in classes per month. Both will be suitable for beginners.

One will be a gentle Fertility Yoga session. We’ll travel through a series of poses together, anchor to the breath and take time to enter deep relaxation. In each session will include a focus on some poses that tend to the pelvic bowl, an area where we can hold a lot of tension. As this is a drop in session where individualised modifications won’t be possible, we advise you not to attend if you have started a cycle of IVF treatment.

The second class is restorative yoga, appropriate for all, at any stage of your treatment.

FAQs

How do I access these?

Classes will be held on a private Zoom meeting. 

Do I have to have my camera on?

Only if you want to. Having your camera on will help Helen to identify if anyone needs support/modification. However, your sense of security and safety is really important to us so you are welcome to have your screen off, if this feels right for you. 

How much are the classes?

£7 (or £5 for Life Raft Members)

Is there a limit on spaces?

No limit! The joy of online, at home yoga practice!

Can I attend if I’m in the middle of treatment?

Restorative classes: yes.For Gentle Yoga classes we advise you to check with your healthcare provider.

Can I attend in the two week wait of a non treatment cycle?

Yes. We advise that you check with your healthcare practitioner if you have any pre-existing health conditions. All attendees attend at their own risk and are advised to always listen to their own bodies.

I’ve never done yoga before, will I be able to do it?

Come along! There won’t be any complicated sequences and you can take it all at your own pace. 

What do I need?

- A good internet connection

- Device with Zoom downloaded

- Somewhere quiet with a bit of room to stretch!

- Comfy clothes

- Yoga mat/blanket
